Delivering leaflets to householders is a really high impact way of getting new business. Even if they only read it while walking to the bin, most leaflets will get noticed.

But by the time you’ve factored in design, print and distribution it’s a pricey method of promotion. The one thing you could cut down on is distribution – you can do that yourself, can’t you.

Well, yes you can, but here’s some truths about this least attractive of options:

  • You can only deliver a max of 150 leaflets an hour. Even if you get four of you out there, that’s still only 600 an hour.
  • With the exception of a few straights road, most housing areas are a labyrinth. You’ll either miss homes or do them twice.

  • If you recruit other people to do this for you, you must give them some health and safety advice, even if they are self employed.
  • If you don’t know the recruits well, you should GPS track their delivery to ensure your leaflets aren’t delivered to the nearest bush.
  • Finally, remember that many homes have brushes on the letterbox. This means a) you have to put your hand right through to get the flyer in, and b) unless you are posting stiff cardboard, the leaflet will arrive on the mat crumpled up. Probably not the image you are hoping for.

Might be worth asking us to do it for you! More details here.
